You've studied the characters, learned their history and various plot points, and followed them through every turn in their stories.

What if you could use your love for gaming and geek culture to improve your life?

What if all those epic stories actually gave you an advantage over non-geeks and Muggles?

That's where I come in.

Hey. My name is Matt Sherman.

I'm here to help you harness your passion for gaming and geek culture and use it as a tool for growth and change.

I believe that there's a hero inside of each of us, waiting to be unlocked.

All it takes is awareness, a plan, and determination, and you can become whatever you want to be!

That's right! You don't need a magic sword or a special wand or even superpowers. The only thing standing between where you are today and where you could go is YOU and the story you tell yourself.

Your dream life starts with you taking a small step in the right direction. And guess what: If everyone took one small step every day, imagine how much better off the world would be!

The world needs you to step up and into your destiny because you're just one quest away from living a life beyond your wildest dreams. A hero doesn't just sit in the inn, they go out there and hone their skills and make an impact on the world.

Whether you want to learn how to unleash the superpowers of your personality type, find your spark in life, start to date someone who loves you for who you are, or stop all that negative thinking, I'll be your transformation guide through the process.

There is a hero inside of each of us, waiting to be unlocked.

You know what I'm talking about. You've seen it in movies and read about it in books: the hero who rises up to save the day, who makes a difference in the world by becoming their best self and accomplishing amazing things.

That hero is the real you—the best version of yourself that is just waiting for you to unlock your potential. You were born with something special inside of you—the ability to be awesome, the ability to share your gifts, and the ability to make a positive difference in this world.

But when you look in the mirror, you don't see that hero. You see someone else: someone who is anxious and depressed, who feels like they're stuck playing as an NPC in someone else's heroic journey; someone who feels like their life has become meaningless because they're just not motivated enough to make any changes or take any risks.

If that sounds familiar to you, don't worry! It's not your fault—it's just part of being human. Everyone experiences these feelings from time to time, but it doesn't have to stay that way forever. There are ways for you to unlock your inner hero and live the life you were meant to live! And your unique personality type and the epic stories in your mind can be the catalyst for your transformation.

Your dream life starts with you taking a small step in the right direction. And guess what: If everyone took one small step every day, imagine how much better off the world would be!

You Already Know How to be Happy and Successful

In this episode, I want to give you a technique to help you make success easier, which will hopefully lead to you being happier and more fulfilled.

Hey I'm Matt Sherman and welcome to Geek Psychology. Where life is a game, and this is the walkthrough.

The truth is, changing your life isn't easy. But it does get easier—once you know what you're doing. That's because there are two parts of becoming a person who lives a consciously designed life:

1) getting clear on who you need to become, and

2) taking the steps to become that person (even if it's uncomfortable).

I've found that one of the best ways to hack your self-development is by asking yourself the question: "Who do I need to become to get what I want?"

Once you have an answer, the next step is figuring out what steps the future you took in order to become that person.

Let's say, for example, that you want to be a healthier person. You might think that means going on a diet and doing more exercise. But actually becoming a truly healthy person involves more than just physical health. It also means learning how to manage stress better, cultivating compassion for yourself and others, and having a positive relationship with food (and so on).

So, using the above two parts,

1) Pick a goal you have or a problem you're facing.

2) Pick a moment in time after having achieved the goal and describe where you're living, who you're talking to, what activities you're doing, and what thoughts and emotions you're experiencing in the present progressive tense. (I'm Xing)

"I'm living in Hawaii and sitting on the beach watching my daughter and wife play in the water (I have the image in my head of the house that I want). I run bi-monthly training sessions where people fly in from all over the world to learn about how to improve their lives and I just finished the July session. I'm happy about the programs, but I'm using this time to consider what better ways I can help people get impactful changes faster, so I'm thinking about bringing in some support to help me facilitate the sessions..."

3) Ask the future you how you did it. "Hey, what was the most impactful thing you did? And what was the biggest lesson? And what was the first step you took?"

Answer: "I had to get out of my comfort zone and actually create a structure for my course - so I looked up similar and already successful courses and put my own spin on it. Then I made version 1 of it and tweaked it from there. The biggest lesson was that version 1 isn't gonna be great, so go for version 3 as soon as possible - meaning I had to implement and track what was going well and what wasn't. The first step was to ask potential clients what their biggest frustrations and desires were..."

4) Start taking action based on what you told yourself.
